Guitar Playlists for Listening Reference

Guitar playlists

Greetings guitar students, and students interested in working on guitar! LISTENING is a really, really important of guitar study, because often we’re working from tablature which doesn’t require us to read rhythm, so if you wanna play a song correctly, you have to know it already in your ear.

Guitar playlists for this year are pasted below. It’s a lot of music, so general background listening for these lists, and then I’ll send specific video tracks for each weekly assignment to help focus the practice time.

If there’s anything you want to add, please let me know!  I’ll be supplementing these songs with new ones that arise that I’ll send week by week, and sometimes I’ll just send out links to what we’re listening to over the week. Some of you choose your own repertoire; no problem. Listen to these anyway, while you’re studying or doing other activities, since many of these are guitar standards, or fingerstyle covers of those sing-play standards. Many songs on this playlist focus on instrumental development (ie, fingerstyle work, where we play a melody and chords at the same time; it’s definitely juggling 3 balls now. So even if you’re not ready for that yet, it’s good to get it in the ear.

If it’s not convenient to listen via these playlists, let me know what works best for your family, since with the listening component of study we will learn much, much faster, so it’s important to figure out a viable delivery method!

Thanks! Rosanna

Original songs that are covered fingerstyle in the next playlist

Fingerstyle covers of the above songs

Easy Acoustic Guitar Songs – original for listening; we will do easy guitar fingerstyle tabs for these

Of course the canon of important guitar works…

And the canon of sing-play standards that form the backbone of working musician’s performance set list for events etc; always good to pull these out in a pinch:
